How are
Appointments Scheduled?
The office attempts to schedule appointments at your
convenience and when time is available. Preschool children should be seen in
the morning because they are fresher and we can work more slowly with the
child for their comfort. School children with a lot of work to be done
should be seen in the morning for the same reason. Dental appointments are
an excused absence. Missing school can be kept to a minimum when regular
dental care is continued.
Since appointed times are reserved exclusively for
each patient we ask that you please notify our office 48 hours in advance of
your scheduled appointment time if you are unable to keep your appointment.
Another patient who needs our care could be scheduled if we have sufficient
time to notify them. We realize that unexpected things can happen, but we
ask for your assistance in this regard.

Do I Stay with My Child During the Visit?
We ask that you allow your child to accompany our
staff through the dental experience. We are all highly experienced in
helping children overcome anxiety. Separation anxiety is not uncommon in
children, so please try not to be concerned if your child exhibits some
negative behavior. This is normal and will soon diminish. Studies and
experience have shown that most children over the age of 3 react more
positively when permitted to experience the dental visit on their own and in
an environment designed for children.

What About Finances?
Payment for professional services is due at the time
dental treatment is provided. Every effort will be made to provide a
treatment plan which fits your timetable and budget, and gives your child
the best possible care. We accept cash, personal checks, debit cards and
most major credit cards. We do not accept or file dental insurance.
However, we will be happy to provide you with an insurance receipt at each
visit. These are standard forms you attach to your insurance papers or
simply submit to your "flex spending."

Our Staff

Our office administrator is
Mrs. Denise Martin, a graduate of NYU
Dental School and Certified Dental Auxiliary.
Her
career in pediatrics started as a kindergarten teacher’s aide, before she
entered the dental field. When you call the office you will likely speak
with Denise. She helps with all the practical and supportive issues parents
have. Warm and bright, she keeps all the details organized so that the
children can receive the finest care. Denise attends several continuing
education courses every year in order to stay on the cutting edge of
pediatric dentistry and is working on her own training program to promote
excellence in “parent-care”.
Kids
are special and in our office they are
number 1!

Mrs.
Michelle Riggio is a graduate of NYU Dental School. She is a
Registered Dental Hygienist (with expanded functions) and mother of two. She
has been working in the dental field since 1991 and has a real love of
parents and children.
Michelle oversees the coordination of Children’s Oral
Health Month for the preschools in Westchester and Connecticut. If
your child’s school would like to participate, feel free to call Michelle!
Michelle is also working with Dr. Madigan on a preventive care research
project. Michelle also organizes the staff’s yearly training in pediatric
advanced life support.
Michelle is an expert on sealants and
preventive care, so parents should feel free to ask her questions about
these topics.

Mrs. Angela Nunez
holds a certificate in dental assisting from the Westchester training
program, and has over ten years experience in pediatric dental assisting.
She and her husband are raising two beautifully behaved daughters who are
good students, too. Angela is a stickler for cleanliness. In addition to
supervising the sterilization and proper handling of instruments, she is the
one responsible for the general care and decorating of the office. You will
see her imaginative window treatments and seasonal décor. She has “secret
powers” she uses to make every child feel like a winner.

Ms. Lori Higgins
started ten years ago with us as a dental assistant and has gone
on to become a Registered Dental Hygienist with a degree from NYU.
Lori is always taking classes. When she is not working with the
children on preventive care she is studying, or doing
behind-the-scenes work, such as making sure we are getting back to
referring doctors about the children’s care. Lori coordinates
contacts with other professionals to make sure each child is
getting optimum care.
